Troubled by waste, changing climate and contamination, water is set to become the world’s scarcest resource. Given the history and complexities of the system, water supply, use and rights are a daily obstacle for our farmers. The Fight for Water: a farmer worker struggle” will screen as part of a larger series on the subject of water in agriculture. When an environmental ruling shut the water pumps to a region of the California Central Valley, a community of valley farmers and their farm workers stage a march across the California Central Valley in order to fight for their water. Followed by a larger discussion on water scarcity, rights and policies. |
